Moon from 27 1/2 miles. A photograph of the moon's surface transmitted 20 febr 1965 by the American Ranger 8 mooncraft from an altitude of 27 1/2 miles above the moon, 25.13 seconds before impact. The large irregular depressio in the centre is a closeup of the rippled craters in photograph numeber R 5484. North is at the top when this crater is at the bottom of the photograph.
