Achtergrondinformatie
This instrument was used to study physiological phenomena. It consists of a springdriven motor that powers a metal cylinder. Wrapped around the cylinder was a piece of paper covered in soot. One or more writers could be attached to the iron bar next to the metal drum. These writers were thin metal pins, which responded to input signals, such as the heartbeat or pulse of an animal or human. By scratching the soot, white scratches representing the heartbeat for example would appear.
