Galvanometer met dubbele naald onder glazen stolp op houten plank.Het inventarisboek vermeld bij NSG 92 nog, dat de spoel bestaat uit 12 windingen van rood koperdraad van 1 mm dik. Nobili vond de statische galvanometer uit in 1825. Rooseboom meldt in haar aantekeningen, dat S. Cohn van 1822 tot zijn dood in 1859 verbonden was aan het Natuurkundig Gezelschap te Utrecht. Merkwaardig is dat zij het heeft over Cohn. Op dit instrument (en ook op nr. 15817) en in het inventarisboek lijkt echter Cohu te staan. Toch vermoed ik dat het om dezelfde persoon gaat. Vandaar de datering.

Current Electricity
Electrical research, which had become rather bogged down, was given a new impetus by the discovery of current electricity. The anatomist Luigi Galvani was the first to observe the phenomenon in dead frogs and therefore spoke of animal electricity. Alessandro Volta discovered the correct reason: when two different metals with a wet conductor in between are brought into contact an electric current is created. In 1800 he published his Voltaic ile, opening up a completely new field of research.
