A dying and aged man reclines in an arm-chair, facing his lawyer who is writing at a table, evidently on the will; beside him is a treasure-chest. A pretty young woman leans over the scarcely conscious man, taking his chin, while her lover, a young military officer wearing a cocked hat, watches her through an eye-glass from behind the curtains of a bed.
