Background information
Completely by accident Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered a mysterious kind of light with remarkable properties on the 8th of November 1895, in the afternoon. It went straight through watery structures such as organic material, bone tissue being an obstruction. X-rays soon made their entry into medicine. Concealed organs, fractures and internal injuries could now be photographed. The first X-ray machines were large and heavy. Soon, however, machines were introduced that were less awkward to handle.
